What?

The talk will explore the relationships between Cuba and the United States and the Cuban diaspora in the U.S.

Silvia Pedraza is a Professor of Sociology and American Culture at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her research focuses on the sociology of immigration, race, and ethnicity in the United States, with particular attention to Latina/o communities and gender. She also studies the sociology of revolutions, especially in Cuba and Venezuela, including the role of refugee exoduses in shaping these processes. Her work emphasizes both historical and contemporary comparative perspectives. She currently serves as Associate Editor of Social Science History, the journal of the Social Science History Association.
